So, The Fasting Month is here again this year.:) As usual, I'm really looking forward to it. I started fasting (and just ended the first day) today. Hopefully, all good things will be going well.
However, I am also feeling rather uncertain and...cautious.:| Believe it or not, living in a country like my own as a young woman these days, this year is the very first time I kind of dread The Fasting Month as well. Why? Here's my only, sensible answer:
RUU APP (Rancangan Undang-undang Anti Pornografi and Pornoaksi / The Draft of Bills Against Pornography and Pornoaction), a.k.a.The Stupid Draft.:( Pornoaction?? What idiots came up with such a stupid, nonsensical word?*sarcastic laughter* But still, I cannot escape the fact that having those blind, shallow fanatics in the government will possibly become a seriously pure disaster to my beloved country. Oh, how they just have no idea, none at all...:x
*deep sigh* Oh, well. Alright, I know damn well that I am not supposed to easily get myself ticked off like that. I am well aware of my temper.:(*blushes* But hey, I never stop trying my best to control that, do I?
Still, I'll tell you (again) bits about The Stupid Draft with its highly misogynicistic contents.:( It is very repressive for women. It once again gives the ancient impressions about women as merely objects, not human beings.:x The worst is about how a rapist will ONLY be sentenced three years --- three! --- in jail and a woman (considered --- which limits, anyway??) improperly dressed will be sentenced five. Ha! Imagine that. That will possibly give any bastard out there in the streets an excuse to rape any girl and then just blame her and get the hell away with it. Oh, I am dead serious here. There already have been discriminative county laws like that no:8/2005 in Tangerang. Anyone who is (considered) acting suspicious in public places will easily be deemed as prostitutes and get arrested. Despite of the wrongly accused targets like that substitute teacher's completely innocent wife on the way home from work at night last March, the local government is still CRUEL enough to keep using the stupid laws.*rolls eyes*
Question: if the women want to go out at night to perform Tarawih rituals during The Fasting Month in mosques, will they be deemed as prostitutes and get arrested too?:( That is so unfair. Don't they even remember that slandering can cause them hell in the afterlife as well?:'-(
Anyway, so far a number of alliances for human rights have collected about over 25,000 votes against The Stupid Draft vs. the only six-thousand-ish who dumbly agree with it.:P (Nyah, nyah!*big evil grin*) However, The Stupid Draft's committee still insists another meeting on Tuesday to discuss more (what more to discuss, you stubborn idiots?!:x), despite the already obvious results.*rolls eyes* They just won't quit that easy, will they?:( Anything for more money, just fuck the regular citizens struggling for a much, more decent (and safer) life. They keep using their so-called 'morality' bullshit excuses to have things their way. Most of them are happily corrupting the money and other citizens' rights anyway. How barbaric is that?
God, please don't ever let them win, so I won't have to leave this country for my own safety...:( Besides, I hate minority's tyranny, because it's just really selfish. I know, I've never really been good to You lately.:'-(
How's life around me so far? The restaurant's being split in two, the other's in Pasaraya --- starting today.:) We open at four pm. (Lucky me.) I've reconnected with an old friend named Ki. My best friend Tiger's gone to a college in Leicester, UK. (I miss him.:(*snifs*) I miss TB so much. I also haven't heard from Al. I'm catching up with "Ocean Sea" by.Alessandro Baricco for a book review competition.:)
Write. Work. Wait. Worry. Wish.:| All I do these days.
