My uncle Iwan was visiting Jakarta this weekend (but he and his family are flying back home to Surabaya this evening.) I had to stop chatting with Tiger a new friend from Hong Kong named Edith, because Mom had texted my cellphone, saying we'd visit him and his family in Grand Mahakam Hotel, Blok M, South Jakarta last night.
I'd been worried with my outfit; a simple black-and-white striped T-shirt, a pair of black trousers, and mocca-coloured slippers.:| Thankfully, my brother lent me his gray jacket, because I'd also brought my gray sling bag. He looked boyish in his red T-shirt, blue jeans, sneakers, and hooded-black jacket. As usual, my beautiful sister always looked stylish (sorry, I just can't hide my envy!*blushes and cringes*) So did Mom.
Oh, btw, we also took my sister's boyfriend Gatot with us last night. The TV news senior reporter looked amazingly handsome in his green T-shirt, blue jeans, and sneakers.
I don't know why, but it's been like ages since the very last time my family and I ever visited a seriously luxurious place. That cafe in Grand Mahakam was absolutely fantastic! To be honest, last night felt almost like Cinderella's borrowed dream to me --- only minus the ballroom dance, the gowns, the glass shoes, and The Prince Charming, of course.*giggles*:P The dinner was festive, and the live performance (a piano player and a female jazz singer) was also great.:)
Since Uncle Iwan was treating all of us, I had no worry about ordering creme brulee (I hope I spelled that right *blushes*) and orange juice. Don't worry, despite being a scruffy tomboy, I still have my table-manners here, hehe.:P
Hmm, I'm not sure if I've written this before, but Uncle Iwan's Dad's best friend since childhood.:) I don't know about you skeptics, but he's been gifted with psychic abilities since his near-death experiences (twice, if I'm not mistaken). He can see 'things' most people don't. But most importantly, he's been more like my second father.:)
About me, he told me not to worry. He said he'd 'noticed' my confidence growing, and I know what I want to do with my life. True, I want to be a writer.:D That's why I practice as much as possible.
He also believed that the government's stupid draft of bills regarding "Antipornography" (but repressing women, ugh!) wouldn't be legalized and wouldn't work out at all.:) You might think I'm just being a silly child, but...I don't know.*sighs* I just want to believe that more than ever these days. I mean, he'd assured me about graduating college on time long ago --- and I did after I'd thought and willed it hard into reality.
Well, let's just hope --- for the good of all Indonesian women here --- that our worst nightmare won't ever come true. I don't want my worst fears realised.:( I'll despise and curse those sexist pigs in my country's government to death, if they persist!:x
